ERM Consulting were engaged by a large Gold Mine in the Kalgoorlie Region to Inspect an in-service Ball Mill Motor. Additionally, transient Recordings were conducted on site to obtain and calculate Key Motor Performance Data (such as Motor Starting and Operating Characteristics). The scope included:
- Complete Motor Inspections using relevant Australian and International standards.
- Conduct motor Transient recordings utilising state of the art Electrical Instruments.
- Conduct motor performance analysis utilising information obtained from the visual inspections combined with the large amount of data collected via transient recordings.
- Provide recommendations to ensure motor operation is optimized whilst maximizing Ball Mill ore throughput.
Methodology
State of the art Electrical Instruments combined with industry leading Condition Monitoring Techniques used to understand and further optimise Motor performance on site.
Application of the solution
ERM Consulting have conducted many Critical HV Asset Inspections on site. In this case, easy to follow and Risk Based Recommendations were made to the client enabling optimized Motor Performance on site.
Conclusion
This project has resulted in Optimised and Reliable operation of the Ball Mill Motor on site! This has resulted in increased production via a reduction of inspection frequency on site.
