HV Cable Replacement

ERM recently completed another successful project involving the replacement of an existing 33kV HV cable prone to failures due to a large number of HV joints along the cable route. Over time cable joints are prone to wear and if not monitored closely via PD and TD testing can fail causing significant downtime.

The total cable route for this project extended for 5km however the section prone to failures was at one end and approximately 500m. ERM replaced this entire section which removed the majority of the cable joints along the cable route. Various methods of cable installation were used which included open trench methods and above ground in cable ladder.

The new cable was installed during normal operation under a green fields environment and then tested and tied in during a plant outage. This project was executed successfully, on time, budget and with nil incidents.

ERM are proud to be involved in providing expertise to resolve and long term problem!
